| I was raised in the Methodist Church and always assumed that, when the time came, I’d marry someone from my church, at a rather young age, like my sisters. But by the time I was 25 it was clear that it wasn't going to happen so smoothly. I dated a number of the young men who went to my church but I had so many complaints -- they seemed so immature, so lacking in initiative and a drive to succeed, that I couldn’t imagine marrying any of them. It was extremely important to my parents that I marry a Christian, though the exact denomination wasn’t too important to them, so they showed me some consumer reviews of Christian Cafe. The more I read, the more I liked the idea -- a non-pressured way to meet young men who had the same basic religious values as I do, but an opportunity for me to filter them to weed out those who didn’t match my other criteria. Once I felt that I knew someone well and didn’t have any complaint about their lack of drive or willingness to succeed, I was ready to meet -- definitely a more comfortable situation than I had experienced previously. I ended up marrying a man that I met on Christian Cafe and highly recommend the site to other Christian singles. |
