Lavalife is one of the largest Internet dating sites on the web. It has over ten million members with whom you can review a variety of dating options including casual dating, long term relationships or casual even flings. As a Lavalife member you can create different profiles, post various pictures and represent yourself in different ways. You can send a smile for free but if you want to initiate a message you must have a paid membership. If someone sends you an email message, voice message or chat request you can reply for free. Contact options at Lavalife include chat/instant messaging, sharing of private photo galleries and video greetings, emails, smiles and direct phone contact. The Lavalife sign-up process is quick and allows you to express your interests and relationship goals in addition to the basic demographics such as your age, location and family status. One of the highlights of Lavalife’s matchmaking tools is the “most recently signed in” feature which allows you to see who is online with you. This gives you the opportunity to pursue people who you can either message while they’re online, or contact people who, it’s clear, are active members, saving you time. In addition to its large North American membership list Lavalife maintains a large international base as well. Some members have consumer complaints about this international component but Lavalife’s easy search allows each member to zero in on his or her best prospects, especially if locality is an issue.

| After hearing my roommate’s positive reviews of Lavalife I was anxious to give it a try. As a non-Mormon in a heavily Mormon area, my dating options are limited. I’d tried some different matchmaking possibilities in the past, notably through my church’s youth group, but I was frustrated by the fact that the women didn’t match my expectations. The majority seemed to think that their only goal in life was to get married and start having babies. I wanted to find a real soulmate, someone who would be my friend, companion and partner. THEN we could have babies. After listening to my complaint, even my Pastor suggested that I give Lavalife a shot. There weren’t a lot of non-Mormon women registered on Lavalife who were living in Salt Lake City but there were a couple in my age range and I went out with several of them. I’m presently seeing one woman seriously and while we don’t agree on everything, I do feel that there’s a possibility for a future together. |
