Spark is an Internet matchmaking website that offers a new twist on online dating. The site allows all members to read emails and respond for free at no cost (initiating an email message can be done only with paid membership fees). Spark also allows all members to post a profile, submit a photo to the profile, review profiles for possible matches and control with whom each member communicates. Spark attributes it success (it has millions of profiles on its site) to its unique personality test called the Color Code Test. The Color Code Test helps Spark members understand more about themselves. The test results give people tools to conduct accurate reviews of their matchmaking introductions so they have a better idea of which individuals will suit them best as relationship partners. The test is comprised of four personality colors, also called the “driving core motives.” These motives, power, peace, fun and intimacy create a code that gives directions regarding how to relate to different personality types, including those that members date. This knowledge helps to build stronger and more meaningful relationships by providing insights about behavior, both that of the individual as well as the people that he meets. Following the color code test members receive a detailed 15-page personality assessment that analyzes the member’s personal color and gives guidance as to how the person can better relate to other colors. Members learn about common complaints that others might feel about their personality and how to understand each complaint as a building tool.

| Dating has never been easy for me. Even when I was younger I always felt awkward on dates and never felt that I could really be myself. It just became more difficult as time went by. As a 43-year-old woman I had pretty much given up on the dating world until a cousin mentioned that she’d had quite a bit of success with the Spark program. I joined and went ahead and took the Color Code Test. Again, I was skeptical but figured “why not?” The results of the Color Code Test really gave me some things to think about. It could also have been that it worked on my psyche because it basically told me that I’m very empathetic and have many traits that men my age are looking for. The fact that Spark had several profiles of men in my area also helped and I gave the dating world one more try. Thankfully, because the third man that I corresponded with turned out to be the one that I married. |
